Canola oil: bad for the body, bad for the brain.

By December 21, 2017Functional Medicine, Origins News

Here at Origins Medicine one of the first lifestyle recommendations we make for all of our patients is to cut out industrialized seed oils.  These oils are high in omega-6 fatty acids, which can lead directly to inflammation and unstable cell membranes.  It’s depressing to think that for 50 years we’ve been told to back off the healthy butter and increase “healthy” canola laden margarin.  Well, as reported on in the Medical News Today a new study shows that our brain also suffers.

So, swap out that canola oil for stable, anti-inflammatory, and delicious fats such as butter, ghee, coconut oil, avocado oil, oilive oil, etc.  It may be one of the most important changes you make for your heart and your brain!
